Wednesday Diet Wisdom: The Obesity Cycle

The ride to weightloss is difficult

Once you get fat, it’s a very hard trap.

I call it the obesity cycle: overeat, repent, repeat.

Once you get to a certain weight or a certain BMI, it can be very hard to change to get slim again.

For many people, getting fat only leads to getting fatter.

To make significant weightloss happen, it is clear that the solution to obesity is far more harder to achieve than prominent Weightloss Companies may promise, to say the least.

Yes, it’s true that exercise is the key to a healthier body, but so is what we eat on a daily and nightly basis.

Too many calories can make us fail in our quest to get fit and trim.

Today I am in the repentant phase of the obesity cycle.

For over a month I counted every little calorie that went into my mouth. Suddenly, counting calories began to be very tiresome.

So, after stepping on the scale at the orthodontist clinic yesterday, I saw that I was up 3 pounds because I recently quit counting calories.

I need to start counting my calorie intake again!

I had oral surgery yesterday and I’m kind of spent.

Keep fighting the fine fight and don’t let yourself get too fat.

If you’re already too fat, continue to get proper nourishment and lots of exercise, fresh air and rest, but continue to count calories and if you can stand it, be sure to get on the scale to check your weight.

If you fell off the weight reduction track, get back on-board

Thursday Book Review: Lose the Clutter, Lose the weight

Peter Walsh know his stuff!

Ok. So I am a pack-rat.

Where do I find the wisdom to change?

Peter Walsh!

I’ve admired his no-nonsense reasoning since the first time I saw him on TV.

But his book, “Lose the Clutter, Lose the weight,” is a good remedy for many who have too much

Here is a gem for you to consider.

Clutter comes from:

1. Bringing too much stuff into your home. šŸ” (Aquisiton)

2. Not getting rid of enough of it. (Difficulty discarding it.)

3. Allowing clutter to spread throughout your home to where it doesn’t belong. (Clutter’s core.)

So if you have ADHD like me, or just generalized anxiety disorder about your pig-sty, this book is a gem!

Of course you won’t get it all doneĀ  in 6 weeks.

But, the first step is understandingĀ  what clutter is.

The first way to get started is to get educated, not overwhelmed.

Peace and love on Ringo’s birthday.

82 today. Glad he kicked the smokes and he’s a vegetarian too!

We can all do our best to make changes for a better life!

Wednesday Diet Wisdom: Gym life

Afternoon strength

Three times a week hubby and I work on strength training.

When the sun comes up

However, every morning when the sun comes up we go to the pool at the Recreation center!

Jim after our big swim

So after joining the gym we have gotten into the habit of exercise.

Whenever it is time to eat we focus on high fiber and high protein.

Of course being vegetarians it takes extra effort to eat protein and we find it in many good foods including lots of vegetables, soy products, nuts, nut butters and eggs.

Having a garden helps.

Herbs and veggies make life lush
Tasty homemade pizza full of protein and fibre I cooked for noon lunch yesterday šŸ˜‹

This morning after I rose at 5:30 I took things that were in the freezer. I cooked them in my steamer.

My big house cleaning project yesterday was to clean the fridge and freezer.

My freezer has room to breathe now!

Anyway once we get home we like to play outdoor ping pong. That’s our thing we do as a couple. No holds barred! We each play to win!!!

Ping pong rivals!

Time to eat now

Hot veggies and soy brats

Every day instead of asking what do I want for dinner? Ask what do I want from dinner?

Stay active, grow slender and be strong.

Like they say, if I can do it you can do it!

Cheers to your good health!

Wednesday Diet Wisdom: Don’t Get Dressed in the Dark

So today I had my bra on inside out and my pants on backwards!

I was dressing in the dark so hubby might sleep.

I felt this was an analogy for not eating blind.

You need to shed light on your nutrition and your physical condition.

I am sticking to my calorie-tracking, never exceeding 1450 calories a day, and raising my metabolism by weight-lifting and cardio.

My pants are feeling looser and this week I found my good measuring tape.

Good measuring tape

I plan to fill in my measurements chart tonight with the help of my husband. It always helps to have someone measure you. But, you can also do it by yourself.

Stats

Just like knowing your weight and size, (and how to get properly dressed,) knowing your calories and nutrition is important for weight reduction and getting healthier.

Plan your work and work your plan and do it for yourself!

Food and focus go hand in hand.

Eat right. Feel right. Look right. Dress right!!! šŸ™‚ā¤

Focus on good food

Wednesday Diet Wisdom: Patience dear heart

It takes time to drop excess weight

I have been really working hard at focusing on my weight reduction.

I got myself a Galaxy 4 watch.

The app called Samsung Health tracks so many aspects of my weightloss plan.

It tracks everything from body fat to steps taken.

New Android Galaxy 4 “Healthy” Watch

Most of all it records and analyzes my sleep.

It even records me snoring, if and when I snore!

I highly suggest you weigh yourself daily.

But, be forewarned.

To permanently keep off weight you need to have a lot of patience. Good things take time.

Obviously, one’s weight fluctuates. In fact, it can swing anywhere from 1-3 lbs or more in a day.

But, if you’ve been a good person sticking to the plan of eating less calories and burning more fat through exercise and activity, you are pretty well guaranteed that eventually you will get trimmer and slimmer!

Morning Potatoes

Pan-fried Potatoes and more!

I own the popular Aroma steamer. I like to steam a big batch of chopped Golden Yukon potatoes and then fry them in a cast-iron pan with a medley of vegetables and soy bacon.

French roast drip coffee is the best!

Homemade is hard, but it is the price you pay for tasty food that will most likely be eaten quickly! šŸ˜‹

Test driving a Tesla

So we went to a Tesla dealership to try out a Tesla on a freezing February afternoon. I wished they would have put us in a more fancier test car like the one on display.

Instead, we wound up in a black Canadian spec car.

The main difference was that it was set to be able to be stopped by cops, if it ever went AWOL

My husband took the wheel. Nothing like a standard or automatic. Completely new.

This was our test car. For about 30 minutes we traveled the vicinity on highways and crossed scary intersections completely engrossed in the digital features.

The Tesla is not to be trifled with. It has many features but the hefty price tag makes one reluctant to buy the aluminum wonder.

I was tormented by the amazing falsehoods one of the salesman espoused. He said the fabric of the interior was leather. Not vegan leather, but leather. He said the wheels were available in different sizes. But both were untrue.

The leather is a manmade textile, and the wheels are all the same size, only the wheel rims are available in plain or sexy sizes.

Not to misunderstand me, but the manager who took us out was a master salesman. He gave us some deadlines regarding tax rebates, tax deductions and low interest rates available.

The auto-pilot feature on the car was cool. We checked out all the extra features like the hepa-air purifier in case of a biohazard such as a nuclear war or shitty-smelling truck. We checked out the height element so as to raise or lower the chassis by a few inches. It was an extra hot seat that grated on me. I was very cold sitting in the back seat, but taking it up to level 3 was too much. I felt cramped in the back seat. The salesman could have helped by pulling up his seat a bit.

In summary, sold is my final review!

My Little Meals

image

I have a new Pinterest board to track my eating.
My Little Meals
It’s been noted that eating several small meals a day is better for you than eating huge meals infrequently.
So, I am experimenting with the idea.
Even though I am a vegetarian, I still need to be careful about the foods I eat.
Feel free to follow my board.
The best food is tasted and savored.
A good way to do that is eating like a gourmet and not like a gourmand.
