Wednesday Diet Wisdom: Appetite Considerations

So are you full?

Do you notice it when you have had enough to eat, or do you let the appetite needle swing into the red before you stop eating?

Observe if you feel satisfied

Eating to fullness is not the way to drop excess weight.

True, each meal is a time of rejoicing, but it is also a time to reflect on what it is we desire from our food.

Summer produce is so good!

A good meal is fresh veggies and lots of air on your plate.

πŸ˜€ If you wish to plan your meals in advance, and the amounts you think you need, it will help you to enjoy your weightloss journey with less stress.

Interesting opinion

Tempting foods abound.

Plan your meal work, and work your meal plan.

You can do it! And so can I!

Wednesday Diet Wisdom: Lessons in the struggle

Sticking to it

I am on a weight reduction program I created, and I decided I will check in once a week with a post to let you know how it is going and any tips I might have learned along the way.

I am grateful to say I have stuck to my weightloss plan faithfully since I began on May 13th.

But it hasn’t been easy.

For example last night I had to work from 430 until 9 PM skipping supper. Suddenly I had a terrible craving for food.

This apple rescued me.

Instead of going for junk food I was happy to discover I still had an apple in my work bag.

Another thing that I turn to if I’m not drinking black coffee for a beverage is this.

Club soda and a maraschino cherry

Club soda has zero calories. A maraschino cherry has about 10 calories.

But there are not all those diet soda chemicals in a simple drink such as club soda with maraschino cherry.

One day I came home from work and I was famished.

The quickest thing I could think about was making a miso soup.

I sliced up the tofu, the mushrooms, garlic and grated some carrot and got some green onions from the garden. I boiled up the miso broth and threw in the vegetables that I had fried a little bit in Pam cooking spray. I let everything simmer for about 10 minutes and found the delicious soup so satisfying and delicious! πŸ˜‹

My steamer is always producing a good hot meal whenever I need something filling and hot like this Field Roast vegetarian sausage, zucchini, and cherry tomatoes dish with Herdez Avocado hot sauce.

Sometimes I will sautΓ©e the steamed veggies in a cast-iron pan with a small amount of oil, or cooking spray to brown them and make them crunchier.πŸ˜‹

Delicious hot and filling vegetarian fare

So it’s been over 16 days since I began my weight reduction plan.

I was delighted to see I have dropped 7 pounds already.

I did not subscribe to any weight company except counting calories and exercising daily.

I still have a very long way to go but I decided that this would be a healthy lifestyle from now on.

We all need to set boundaries in our life and counting calories works for me.

P.S. All diet advice by me is my opinion and does not reflect on any professional advice. Lose weight at your own risk.

Music and Pasta Fazool

Molly and Sonny Boy

Today my post is about music and food, two of life’s greatest blessings!

Today my little music duo, Molly and Sonny Boy ( hubby Jim and I,) did a nice little number for you, “That’s Amore.” Just guitar, tambourine and 2 vocals.

https://youtu.be/uk7FCTmL2p0

It’s a song that mentions Pasta Fazool.

Hubby cooks it often from a recipe he got from his Italian ex-girlfriend’s mother. It contains ditalini pasta, Great Northern beans, tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes dried Romano cheese chunks, black pepper, red pepper, rosemary, garlic and olive oil.

Something tasty

A tasty treat

Somedays you crave a tasty treat.

I thought I might just do something fun with buttermilk biscuits.

I topped them with fresh ripe strawberries and banana, then added Coconut whipped cream from a can.

Tasty, and great at breakfast with French roast coffee! πŸ˜‹

Morning Potatoes

Pan-fried Potatoes and more!

I own the popular Aroma steamer. I like to steam a big batch of chopped Golden Yukon potatoes and then fry them in a cast-iron pan with a medley of vegetables and soy bacon.

French roast drip coffee is the best!

Homemade is hard, but it is the price you pay for tasty food that will most likely be eaten quickly! πŸ˜‹

Elephant ears

This pastry is called an elephant ear

Moving to the Midwest I never heard of many different kinds of pastries, in particular, this one.

This is a crispy, crunchy delight bought from our local bakery, the Backerai on Minnesota Street.

I will have it with some delicious French roast coffee.

The day is bleak and rainy, so it’s time for a little food fun.

Right now I’m fixated on going to Boston and seeing all the sights.

I found some fabulous Boston travel videos, in particular, from Expedia.

Here is the one about Boston from Expedia:

I know I probably shouldn’t watch TV and eat and drink, but who doesn’t, right?

They try to please

Soy bacon, eggs, pepperjack cheese, fried potatoes and green seedless grapes makes for a low-cost hot delicious breakfast! πŸ˜‹

I am a vegetarian who eats eggs.

There are people who do not understand what it means to be a vegetarian.

They think you eat seafood and chicken.

My husband and I do not eat anything with a face or with a mother.

It’s OK to be a vegetarian at home, but it’s hard if you want to eat out.

I have encountered many people who want to give me lots of meat. Have some steak. Have some chicken. Have some pork. Have some turkey.

But I’m a vegetarian I say.

OK here’s some bread and some carrots

That’s why we eat at home a lot!

Quick, happy food

There are days when you want something nutritious.

Having a rice steamer is awesome, but not necessary.

You can make a big batch of rice and save it in the fridge.

Leftover cooked rice is very versatile.

One of the best tasting meals you can make is vegetable stir fried rice. It’s quick and it’s easy to chop up some onions and zucchini and throw in that rice with some egg. Fried in canola or olive oil it only takes about 10 minutes to enjoy a hot, healthy meal fit for a movie star!

Covered with Sriracha sauce fried rice is great! πŸ‘
