To Be Strong for Comic Con!

image

Today I am pondering my Weight Reduction Plan.
Daily I try to move more, and eat less.
Nevertheless, in spite of all my good intentions it feels like it’s an uphill climb.
Food is so wonderful, and so plentiful here in the USA.
The Internet is so alluring,  and sitting on my bum is more convenient than anything.
How do I get back to the size 10 l once was?
I still exercise 30 minutes plus daily: be it walking the dogs or swimming laps, cleaning house or trudging behind a lawn mower.
Yet, it’s food that always arrests my progress.
The needle on the scale repeats the same numbers with minor variations of 3-4 lbs. Like a mini-see-saw up + down, a half a pound..
l am going to continue my quest for a tiny waist and a buff physique, but right now it all seems like a pipe-dream. Wishful thinking.
I keep a daily public record of all I eat on Pinterest.

My little meals

l have Very Real Reasons that motivate
me to want to be fit as a gymnast.
One reason is to have more pep.
The other is to be able to give to others more. More service, more help, and more encouragement.
It’s hard to make others feel good about themselves when you don’t feel so good about yourself.
The most selfish reason l have to show extreme self-denial from the abundance of food and drink temptations is Cosplay.
I can’t wear the sexy cinch-waist Steam Punk
fashions I crave when my gut hangs over my FUPA (Fat Upper Pubic Area!)
So, I have to continue my fitness endeavours.
I need to stretch, strength-train, do cardio and
keep monitoring what I eat.
I have been very good about NOT eating between 8pm-8am.
I have a trip to San Diego Comic Con coming up in the latter part of July.
My ego begs me to look hot, my appetite begs me to eat hearty!
Here is my original song:

To be strong for Comic Con

What is a holiday?

image

What is a holiday?
I pondered that question on this Memorial Day.
There are lawns being mowed.
There are cars are being towed.
Stores are open for buying.
Backyard chefs are out there frying.
The police are still out on their beat, and the Stanley cup players are up on their feet.
I had to work more than half the day, while I saw friends get outdoors, on the lake, to play!
I saw the news crews out there scurrying
Because people can’t stop all their worrying.
So, what constitutes a holiday?
l’ve deduced it means work for some people,
and for others it just means play!

Our Two Best Friends

image

We have two best friends, They are our exercise machines. They are our doorbells, and our private security guards.
They are like psychiatrists, that provide us with the invisible drug called, “puppy love.”
Yet, they are getting older too.
The 13 year old Pomeranian called Pixie has a laundry list of ailments that are chronic and incurable, such as blindness, diabetes and Cushing’s disease.
Yet, that does not lessen her lovability, or her love ability!
The lively, rambunctious 12 year old Poodle named Cole, is the joy of our existence as well.
However, like a diva, he is needy, codependent and a little bi-polar.
He shrieks when he wants his way.
But, since we spoil him, we love him anyway.
No, seriously, although they are aging, we owe them our gratitude for all the affection and exercise they add to our lives.
The old saying holds true “lf you want loyalty get a dog.”
I hate it when old dogs are mocked on TV for aging. Whilst their doggy bodies may start to crumble, in this stage of life’s cruel passage, a little love and care will brighten their existence.
They deserve our gratitude at any age for their
unconditional, and unconventional love.

My Little Meals

image

I have a new Pinterest board to track my eating.
My Little Meals
It’s been noted that eating several small meals a day is better for you than eating huge meals infrequently.
So, I am experimenting with the idea.
Even though I am a vegetarian, I still need to be careful about the foods I eat.
Feel free to follow my board.
The best food is tasted and savored.
A good way to do that is eating like a gourmet and not like a gourmand.

Force 8

I am sure most adults struggle with this problem that the digital world can cause.
How do you push away from the excitement of the Internet?

It’s time to get enough sleep.

You cannot know how good it feels to be well-rested, until you try it!
Force yourself, if you must, to get those 8 (or 9)
hours of peaceful rest for mind, body, metabolism and happiness.
You will be more alert, feel stronger and maybe even live longer!

Love or Lust?

image

We all hear that lust is “bad” and “love” is good.
We all have passions.
The fine distinction between love and lust can really help us when making choices.
That is if we remain aware.
We may lust after sweets or deep-fried foods.
We may lust after impulse buys and regret all the accumulated clutter.
Our lust for donuts may have us lamenting our portly belly.
Our lust for lust may leave us without a home.
So, it helps if we define whether or not we are led by love or by lust.
You can’t always trust lust.

8 to 8 feels great!

image

On my quest for a smaller girth, I found one thing that seems to help me to drop weight besides hard exercise. It is the avoidance of eating anything between 8pm and 8am.

I stick to this rule steadfastly.

If it is later than 8pm, and I mindlessly say to myself, “Boy, I sure could eat some buttered popcorn or a PB & J sandwich,” then I am stopped by the clock.

Like Scarlett O’Hara, (but without the 17 inch waist,) I think, “Tomorrow is another day!”

The mind online

image

So everyone finds out sooner or later that while many of us do not know our neighbours, the stars of Hollywood are very well-known to most people. They like to use their fame as a platform for their opinions.
Like many of us, wasting time online is a pleasure to them as well.
The devil of it all is the bad example they communicate to the young.
Once the Internet was hailed as a boon to educate people and build ties, bridge differences and create global harmony.
Anyone who looks at their Facebook stream, especially during an election year will find out soon enough where loyalties lie among celebrities and commoners alike.
There is a study that mentioned the most dramatic and dismal posts are those that receive the most feedback.
I have curtailed my time on social media
because I don’t want to get depressed.
The old saying, “Thanks for sharing,” does not apply when “friends” or “followers” care to share the ugly sides of their world.
Am I a Pollyanna girl?
If I want to. It’s my right. I am sensitive. I get upset easily.
I will ache for you. Yet, if I am fragile, you will have to excuse me if I step away to protect myself.
The world that bleeds on me doesn’t need me to answer back.
I just won’t.
And I know that it won’t make one bit of difference if I won’t bite on the line.
Some folks need attention, and will bait you. I suggest they think about the long-term effects of their cries of “Wolf.”
Don’t play your games. The world needs less foolishness, and more strength, love and beauty!
Be free, but don’t be hurtful.

Work + Play

Probably everyone wishes to find a job where work is play! The closest I’ve ever come to having a job which is fun, is what I have been doing for over 20 years.

Popcorn & A Rose

image

I cut out sugar and alcohol on weekdays.

On weekdays mind-numbing late-night TV-watching and monotonous online Facebook games are also verboten!
Why the push to healthier living and less time-wasting?
The answer lies in the rose:
To be beautiful!😙
