It was made for the economy of the German nation commissioned by Adolf Hitler.

Yesterday my husband and I went for a walk.
We came upon a strange tree.
Hubby said it was a Cottonwood tree.
I saw “cotton” all over the ground.
I picked some up.
I was amazed to learn that the male produced the pollen (causing allergies for some) and the female trees make the cotton.
The cotton is an appendage to help disperse the Cottonwood seeds so they do not fall at the base of the mother tree.
So, as they say, you learn something new every day!

I found out Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster are performing that Hollywood musical on Broadway!

We have an all-male vocal group in New Ulm called the Concord Singers.
Their title is New Ulm’s Ambassadors of Goodwill.
Last night we went to hear them perform at German Park.
The group has been in the area for over 90 years
It’s a nod to our German Heritage here in my hometown of New Ulm, Minnesota!
Each summer the Concord Singers are a part of an annual celebration called Bavarian Blast.

I just watched this band bio.
Herman’s Hermits had 30 top hits!
They added to an LP with a song they thought was rather ridiculous called, “Mrs. Brown you’ve got a lovely daughter.” But of course it became a smash hit!
Many of their songs were released as popular singles.
There is the lead singer Peter Noone, but no Herman in the band.
Herman was a band name derived from the name Sherman of the American cartoon, “Sherman and Peabody.”
There always seems to be great content in band biographies.

Hubby brought me in a handful of fresh home-grown radishes from our backyard garden.
So I grabbed one and ate it.
Tender and delicious. 😋

Springtime is a lovely time of year.
I recently bought myself a Galaxy 4 watch and I thought there is no better photo to put on my new watch-face than hubby and his radishes!
Yesterday there was a gathering across the street from where we live.
We saw this head-turner.

Today was a beautiful day. After covering ourselves with bug spray because of the crazy gnats, we took a lovely walk up our street.
There are some wonderful houses on our street as well.
So we decided to do No Mow May, a movement to help pollinators as they come out of hibernation.
Our intentions were good. Nevertheless, there are rules in town. By the latter part of May we wound up mowing our front lawn to avoid a fine.
The backyard is a different story.
I could hardly believe how quickly grass grows!
The grass and weeds seemed to take over at such a pace! It was wild!
The rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks just loved it!
When grass grows too long it is quite a chore to try and cut it down.
We will continue to trim our backyard grass and weeds.
We do not spray our plants or lawn with pesticides nor do we harm the ecological environment with noxious chemicals to keep the bugs at bay.
It was good to do No Mow May for a couple of reasons.
We gave the pollinators a break so they could enjoy the long grasses, and we didn’t mow the backyard for a month!
I’ve seen some bumble bees in our garden.
That’s another good sign that we did OK with No Mow May!
P.S. We saw a hummingbird bird in our backyard for the 1st time. Even though we don’t put out hummingbird feeders we have flowers for them!
